8. Mirror, Mirror (Watilo)
(from Life Designed EP)
A contemporary Christian rock/pop song about the struggle between “talking the talk” and “walking the walk”. This song was the second place grand prize winner in the 2004 Dallas Songwriters Song Contest, and first place winner in the spiritual/inspirational category in the 2005 Pacific Songwriting Competition.

John Watilo – vocals, guitars, keyboards, bass guitar, drums, percussion

9. Funk You (Manahan)
(new mix of a version that was on the Inferno Rock Collection Vol. 1 CD)
Funk You evolved from an experiment with all vocally produced instrument sounds. The version with real instruments was much better. Greg started recording it that way on an old 4-track Tascam that he had in Joe Evans' parent's basement, but ended up using an old tool box as sort of a cajon. He put some loose screws and a piece of chain on top to get a kind of a snare sound. He liked the idea for the song and eventually recorded a demo with electronic drums at home. The song was a fan favorite at London Drive shows.

Greg Manahan - vocals, bass guitar, lead guitar
Shane Proctor - drums
Mark Murtha - rhythm guitar

10. Stewards (Watilo)
A contemporary Christian rock song about why it’s important to show grace to others. A commentary on the contradiction between simply paying lip service and actually being a practical help to those who need it. This song was awarded second place in the Christian category in the 2009 Dallas Songwriters Song Contest.

John Watilo – Vocals, guitars, keys, bass guitar, drums, percussion

11. What I Feel (Walker)
(from Try Me…I Rock! By Toymaker’s Dream)
Darren Walker’s late son Jesse is singing at the beginning of this song. It was a song that Darren played in another band that Jesse loved to sing. Jesse was five years old and had a broken arm at the time of that recording. He didn’t realize Darren had recorded him and was a little mad when he heard it at the beginning of the song, but now knowing he is gone, Darren is so glad he did it. Darren, Glen, Greg, and Eddy currently play with Head East (https://head-east.com/)

Darren Walker - lead and backing vocals
Glen Bridger - guitar
Greg Manahan - bass guitar
Eddy Jones - drums

12. Without a Sound (Bridger, Ilous, Fontaine)
(from the Bridger debut CD)
This song evolved from an original demo of Glen’s called Tomorrow. After reworking some lyrics it became Without a Sound. It’s a song about regretting choices made in life, and wasting precious time. Terry Ilous, who has fronted XYZ and Great White, sang the lead vocal. Check out some of Terry’s new work here:

(demo, new mix)
This is the second song from the Sound Factory sessions with Van McLain. Shane remixed this from the original 24-track digital master files. Turnin’ the Wheels was re-recorded for the 1992 Forthcoming Album release, and included backing vocals. It was also included on the 1996 Awake CD.

Carl Worden - lead vocal
Shane Proctor - drums
Joe Lewis - bass
Mark Murtha - guitar, keyboards

14. Who We Really Are (Murtha)
(demo, new mix)
This song was originally recorded when Mark was working on his graduate degree at UMKC. He had an assignment to research chat rooms for a class called “Communicating with Strangers.” It is inspired by his experience interacting with people who regularly visited “friends” in the chat room they had never met in person. Barb and Carl each sang the entire song, but Mark converted it into a duet for this CD.

15. Fade into the Night (Bridger, Walker)
(from Try Me…I Rock! By Toymaker’s Dream)

Darren Walker - lead vocal
Glen Bridger - guitar
Greg Manahan - bass guitar
Eddy Jones - drums

Carl Worden - lead vocal
Shane Proctor - drums
Joe Lewis - bass guitar
Mark Murtha - guitar, keyboards

18. Someday (Murtha, Watilo, Proctor)
(newly recorded version of an old demo)
This song was originally recorded in the early eighties on a 4-track Portastudio. We took the recorder to Barb’s house and recorded her vocal in her living room. Her vocal for the new version was recorded under equally pristine conditions, in her basement. The full version of this song actually includes an extended bass solo in the middle, but since John Watilo was not able to record on this version due to time constraints, Mark played bass and removed the bass solo section. Look for that version at some point in the future. Meanwhile, enjoy Mark’s crazy touches in this version.

Barb Ely - lead and backing vocals
Lisa Murtha - backing vocals
Shane Proctor - drums
Mark Murtha - guitar, bass guitar, keyboards

19. You Can’t Go Home (Manahan, Worden)
(from the Last Train EP by Carl Worden)
Vicki Worden added some additional lyrics to Greg Manahan’s original version of this song, and the band added a solo section, too.
